Auckland part 2

We have had a couple of very relaxing days during our last week in Auckland. Sometimes it was raining and therefor we didn't mind to stay in our wonderful Airbnb house. The last few days here were a bit chilly (to our current standards 😉): around 18 degrees.

We also made some great trips to Waiheke Island, Devonport and we drove the Tamaki drive and met our wonderful "Kiwi family" Krista and Will for an awesome dinner.

We are also doing just some regular things as we do at home in Holland.  Like groceries, cooking and baking a cake. The men got to the hairdresser and Remco an I got a (Thai) massage.  I am also trying to keep in shape by running now and then, but I also went to a "Les Mills" gym (which was founded here!)  and where I was sweating like crazy in this big gym during a firm "Body Attack class".
Auckland was a very comfortable and beautiful place to stay for 2 weeks before heading to the North Land and begin with our 2500 km long roadtrip all trough the South Island!

We try to do a little 'schoolwork' with Rafael every day.

At one of the great public playgrounds.
We discovered this one accidentally by strolling around in 'Western Park'.

On Saturday we finally met our amazing "Kiwi family" Krista and Will. We had a delicious dinner at the North Shore in Birkenhead.

They arranged a great surprise for us for desert! 😋

On Sunday, we promised Rafael to take him on a ride on the Glenbrook Vintage Train.

Very happy boy 😀

After our adventures on the steam engine, we went for some drinks at this nice Cafe.

On Monday we took the car on the ferry to the beautiful Waiheke Island (about 1 hour by boat).

On the top we ran into this scenic picnic spot where we had lunch.

On our last day in Auckland, we visited the cute town Devonport (15 minutes by boat). Here a view on Victoria Road and the old Esplanade hotel.

We celebrated our last evening in Auckland at this delicious Asian restaurant, Monsoon Spoon, downtown Auckland.
