Bula! We are on the other side of the world; in Fiji

A picture is worth a thousand words, so not a lot of words today but lots of pictures of our first week in Fiji. We love it here, just what we expected (our expectations were sky high). It's a paradise, very green, sunny and with beautiful beaches. It's not as wealthy as I thought it would be, but people seem to be happy, relaxed and very friendly. We are having a wonderful stay here!

Because of the time difference (12 hours ahead of NL) we are up very early and enjoying the beautiful sunrise in front of our rental home.

Our wonderful host Seema shows us around in Sigakota town to do some shopping for fruit and vegetables at the market 

Seema teaches me how to cook an Indian chicken curry. She has brought her daughter Meesha so she can play with Rafael. They are having a great time and really like to roll the dough to make roti's!

After lunch we went to one of the best beaches of the main island Viti Levu: Natadola Beach.

Friday November 18th:

Laatste dag LA en reis naar Fiji

Zondag hebben we de hele dag nog in Los Angeles doorgebracht en wel op het mooie brede strand van Manhattan Beach. We zien ook, na 2 jaar, onze vriend Jack weer, samen met zijn stiefdochter Rachel. Hij heeft ons uitgenodigd voor een lunch in "The Strandhouse". Zicht op zee, onbewolkt en 30 gr. Wow, wat zijn wij bevoorrecht!

We vliegen ' s avonds laat naar Fiji,  weer een vlucht van ca. 11 uur. Het tijdsverschil en de jetlag eisen nu wel hun tol. Maar goed, eenmaal op Fiji zijn we al letterlijk de halve wereld rond geweest! Gelukkig hebben we hier voor bijna 2 weken een huisje gehuurd en is de agenda nog helemaal leeg.

Het tijdsverschil is enorm.... tromgeroffel... het is 21 uur later op Fiji dan in LA!! We vliegen nl. door de datumgrens en maandag 14 november slaan we gewoon even over, echt bizar ( later tijdens onze reis krijgen we wel weer een extra dag erbij gelukkig).

Het lijkt  allemaal heel romantisch en geweldig zo'n wereldreis (en dat is het ook), maar niet de hele tijd natuurlijk. Tijdens de vlucht naar Fiji voel ik me behoorlijk brak: keelpijn, verkouden, schor, misselijk, moe, moe en moe. Maar verder kiplekker hoor 🙃 We hebben wel mazzel want we hebben 6 stoelen voor ons drieën. Dus lekker languit liggen maar... helaas kwam daar niet veel van terecht gezien Rafael persé bij mij op schoot wil slapen in een onmogelijke positie én z'n grote koptelefoon mag ab-so-luut niet af, dus die duwt lekker in m'n gezicht. Ach ja, een beetje afzien hoort erbij en het is het dubbel en dwars waard!

Los Angeles

Yes! me made to the USA 🎡

We arrived in Los Angeles yesterday after a long flight with a stopover in London.

Today we went to Hollywood Boulevard and acted like tourists on the Walk of Fame and then off to Santa Monica Boulevard to stroll along the beach and the pier and we had a nice lunch with Frank and Rosemary, a colleague of Remco.

I am not writing lots of details in my blog because it will take too long, since I am writing (with pen and paper) in my travel notebook day by day what we have done and seen: the old fashioned way!
